A Lady known as @kyeruphiona on X, has shared a heart wrenching existential story.

According to her, a coworker had just passed a day before.

HR got the news by 9:00 am, but kept everyone working all day.

Around 4:30 pm, he told them that they could head home early if they need to — knowing they finish at 5:00.

“This morning, its back to business as usual” She said, emphasizing that some of her colleagues were literally sobbing at their desks, but are expected to work; no time for grieve.

“Its a cold reality. Within a week, the company will have his job posted online. Within a month, someone else will be sitting in his chair.

But his family, his children will still talk about him every day. they will ask where is daddy. His wife will mourn for ages..

“Seeing his desk today is haunting.

His pen is still there. His notebook is still open to yesterday’s to-do list.

He had plans for today. He thought he had time.
To see HR treat his life like a ‘timing issue’ for a meeting is a level of coldness I can’t describe.

They didn’t lose a friend; they just lost a “user ID” on their system”

She states the sad reality that, at work we are just a “resource” that can be replaced in a week. While at home we are the world.

“Stop giving your best energy to a desk that will forget you, and giving the leftovers to the people who never will”, She concluded.
