The West African Football Union Zone B (WAFU-B) has officially launched its first Confederation of African Football (CAF) Young Referees Course of the year at the Ghanaman Centre of Excellence, marking a significant step in the development of officiating across the region.

The program, which brings together promising young referees from various WAFU-B member countries, is aimed at enhancing technical knowledge, decision-making, and overall officiating standards in West African football. The opening ceremony was attended by key football administrators and stakeholders, underlining the importance of the initiative.

Participants are expected to undergo intensive training sessions, including theoretical lessons and practical exercises, under the guidance of experienced CAF instructors. The course is part of a broader effort by CAF and WAFU-B to identify and nurture the next generation of elite referees.

Organizers believe the initiative will play a crucial role in improving the quality and consistency of officiating in competitions across the sub-region.
