Ghanaian musician Sista Afia, known in private life as Francisca Gawugah, has publicly declared her support for fellow artiste Wendy Shay ahead of the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
In a post shared on Facebook, Sista Afia simply wrote, “Wendy Shay for AOTY🥂❤️,” openly backing Wendy Shay for the prestigious Artiste of the Year (AOTY) category.
Her endorsement comes shortly after the official announcement of nominees by the awards board on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
Wendy Shay secured seven nominations, including the top Artiste of the Year category, where she will compete against some of Ghana’s biggest names, including Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Diana Hamilton, Black Sherif, and Medikal.
Fans and followers quickly reacted to Sista Afia’s post, with many praising her for showing support to a fellow female artiste. The gesture has been widely interpreted as a sign of growing unity among women in Ghana’s music industry.
Others, however, used the opportunity to debate which of the nominees truly deserves the coveted award.
