Thomas Christiansen, head coach of Panama national football team, says he is eager to test his side against some of the world’s top football nations when they face Ghana national football team, Croatia national football team and England national football team at the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Panama secured qualification for the global tournament, marking the country’s second appearance at the World Cup. The Central American nation has been drawn in Group L alongside Ghana, Croatia and England in the competition, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Speaking in an interview with FIFA, Christiansen described the group as an exciting challenge and expressed confidence that his team can compete with top-level opponents. He noted that Panama have improved significantly in recent years and have shown they can hold their own against strong teams in the CONCACAF region.

The Danish-Spanish tactician added that his players are determined to prove themselves on the global stage and give their supporters something to be proud of.

Panama will begin their World Cup campaign against Ghana before taking on Croatia and England in the remaining group matches.
