RuffTown Records CEO Ricky Nana Agyemang, known in the music industry as Bullet, says singer Wendy Shay remains unmatched among female artistes in Ghana when it comes to hit records and fan loyalty.

He made the remarks during an interview with Nana Romeo on UTV’s ‘Atuu’, where he defended the RuffTown signee and questioned what he described as the reluctance of parts of the Ghanaian media to highlight her success.

According to Bullet, Wendy Shay has achieved significant milestones since entering the industry, but he believes some media outlets have chosen to minimise those achievements. He suggested the situation may be connected to the early criticism that followed the singer when she first appeared on the music scene.

Bullet recalled that many commentators were quick to predict that Wendy Shay would struggle to survive in the industry. In his view, the singer has since disproved those claims through consistent releases and a steadily growing fanbase.

Despite that progress, he said recognition has not always followed her success.

Bullet pointed to the singer’s ability to headline her own show. He cited the concert she staged in Kasoa in 2025, describing it as a significant milestone that he believes deserved greater attention, particularly considering the hurdles female performers often face in the Ghanaian music space.

Bullet maintained that audience response and the number of hit songs to her name clearly place Wendy Shay ahead of other female acts in the country today.

“Today, there is no female artiste in Ghana with more hit songs or a stronger fanbase than Wendy Shay, but some sections of the media refuse to acknowledge it, partly because she is my artiste and partly because many people once said she would never succeed,” he said.

The RuffTown boss also shared details about how their professional partnership began. He credited entertainment industry figure Kwesi Ernest with introducing Wendy Shay to him at a time when he was already exploring opportunities with other artistes.

However, Bullet said meeting her changed his plans. After observing her determination and attitude, he became convinced she had what it takes to navigate the demanding nature of the music business.

One factor that stood out to him was her decision to leave a secure career in healthcare in order to pursue music.

“Kwesi Ernest introduced her to me. At the time I was already speaking with other artistes, but when I took a closer look, I realised Wendy was the one. Here was someone who was a nurse but had decided to leave that profession behind to come and hustle in music. That alone told me she was fearless and determined. I knew she was tough enough to face whatever challenges might come her way, so I dropped all the other artistes and chose to begin the journey with her,” Bullet further stated.
