Ebenezer Ankrah, a leading boxer from the Black Panthers Boxing Club, has called on authorities to update and publish records of Ghanaian amateur boxers on BoxRec to improve recognition and tracking of local fighters.
Ankrah, popularly known as “Massive Champion,” made the appeal after winning gold in the 60kg division at the recent Ghana Boxing Federation Individual Amateur Boxing Championship held at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.
Reflecting on his final bout against James Okoe of Wisdom Boxing Club, Ankrah said the contest was not as exciting as expected because his opponent relied on rough tactics and committed several fouls. According to him, once he secured the first round, Okoe became desperate and made defensive mistakes that allowed him to comfortably claim victory.
The Labone SHS business student expressed gratitude to his family, fans and coaches Ebenezer Adjei and Daniel Ankrah for their continuous support.
Looking ahead, Ankrah said his immediate target is winning gold at the 2026 Commonwealth Games before setting his sights on the 2028 Summer Olympics.
