Onua TV presenter Captain Smart has broken his silence following the release of controversial televangelist Nana Agradaa, heaping praise on her husband, Angel Asiamah, for what he described as a relentless fight for her freedom.

News broke on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, that Nana Agradaa had regained her freedom after serving part of her revised custodial sentence.

Her lawyer, Richard Asare Baffour, had earlier disclosed in an interview with Channel One TV on February 27, 2026, that the preacher would be released in March after the Amasaman High Court reduced her 15-year jail term to 12 months.

The lawyer clarified that her early release was not the result of favouritism but rather Ghana’s remission policy, which allows inmates to be released after serving two-thirds of their sentence, provided they meet certain conditions.

In the early hours of Tuesday, supporters and loved ones gathered at the Nsawam Female Prison wearing customized T-shirts to welcome the founder of Heaven Way International Ministry.

Videos circulating on social media showed jubilant scenes as fans celebrated her return home.

Speaking on his morning show, Onua Maakye, Captain Smart welcomed Nana Agradaa back and noted that incarceration at Nsawam Prison is no easy experience.

“Agradaa’s husband has really done well. He has fought a good fight because it is not easy,” he stated, commending Angel Asiamah for standing by his wife throughout her legal challenges and imprisonment.

The outspoken presenter also took a swipe at individuals who allegedly gave money and valuables to Nana Agradaa under the “Sika Gari” scheme.

According to him, there was no realistic way for physical currency to be magically doubled, cautioning the public against falling for such claims in the future.

Nana Agradaa’s release has sparked mixed reactions across the country, with some celebrating her freedom while others continue to debate the circumstances surrounding her conviction and sentence reduction.
