It was a day of celebration and thanksgiving at the Heavenway Chapel as the congregation gathered to praise God following the release of the church’s founder, Evangelist Patricia Asiamah, popularly known as Agradaa, after serving months in prison.

Agradaa was released from Nsawam Prisons on March 3, 2026, to cheers from church members who had gathered at the prison entrance. Her husband, Angel Asiamah, welcomed her warmly before accompanying her home.

Agraada herself made a brief appearance at the church to thank her members for their support.

Scenes sighted by GhanaWeb showed members of the church, all clad in the special T-Shirts bearing the picture of Agraada dancing and singing praises in gratitude to God.

They were seen greeting Agraada at the entrance of the church, sprinkling powder, and one was even spotted jumping on the bonnet of Agraada’s car.

The auditorium was no different as they were spotted waving white handkerchiefs and dancing,

One member was spotted convulsing on the floor while others danced on.

Agradaa was convicted on July 3, 2025, to 15 years in prison by an Accra Circuit Court on multiple charges, including charlatanic advertising and defrauding by false pretence.

The case stemmed from her promotion of a so-called money-doubling scheme during services at her church in Weija, Greater Accra Region.

During the televised service, she allegedly promised congregants miraculous financial returns in exchange for money. The promises were not fulfilled, leading to complaints from participants.

On February 5, 2026, the imprisoned televangelist appeared before the Amasaman High Court, which reduced her initial 15-year sentence to 12 months on counts two and three.

She was also fined 200 penalty units (GH¢2,400) and ordered to refund GH¢1,000 to her two complainants, in addition to fines imposed on count one.

Her 12-month sentence was further reduced in accordance with Ghana’s standard remission rules, which allowed her to serve just two-thirds of the revised sentence.
