Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing returned to Long Island on Saturday night with “Rockin’ Fights 53” at The Paramount in Concert with Northwell. The four-bout card featured three stoppages and was headlined by local favorite Jahi Tucker in a ten-round super middleweight main event.

Main Event — Jahi Tucker Breaks Down Sona Akale

Deer Park’s Jahi Tucker capped the evening with a sixth-round TKO over St. Paul’s Sona “Slink Proper” Akale in a scheduled ten-round super middleweight bout.

Tucker controlled much of the action with superior activity and accuracy, consistently outlanding Akale while mixing his attack upstairs and downstairs. Akale had moments, landing occasional looping power shots, but struggled to match Tucker’s output.

In the third round, Tucker was deducted a point for a low blow. He quickly regained focus and continued to dictate the tempo. By the sixth, Tucker had Akale pinned under sustained pressure. When Akale failed to respond to a barrage of punches, referee Arthur Mercante stepped in to halt the contest at 1:18 of the round.

Tucker, unbeaten in his last seven outings, improves to 16-1-1 (7). Akale falls to 10-5 (5).

Peter Latorre Scores First-Round Knockout Over Jose Perdomo

Elmont’s Peter “Voodoo” Latorre delivered a statement victory in a significant step-up bout against Uruguay’s Jose Perdomo.

The unbeaten Marine entered the six-round junior middleweight contest having never gone beyond four rounds, while Perdomo brought greater experience, including multiple eight-round bouts and a previous knockout victory at The Paramount.

Latorre wasted no time asserting himself. Working effectively behind his jab, he drove Perdomo backward and landed heavy shots to both head and body. A right hand with Perdomo trapped near a neutral corner proved decisive, sending the veteran crashing to the canvas.

Although Perdomo rose to his feet, referee Al LoBianco ruled him unable to continue.

The official time was 1:09 of the first round.

Latorre improves to 6-0 (6), stopping Perdomo faster than anyone previously had. Perdomo’s record moves to 10-10 (6).

    Piotr Lacz Overpowers Dominique Valera

Undefeated Polish heavyweight Piotr Lacz needed just over two minutes to dispatch Dominique “Giant Killer” Valera in their scheduled eight-round bout.

Both men showed a willingness to exchange early, but Lacz handled the power shots better and steadily increased his activity. After rocking Valera in a neutral corner, Lacz followed up with a clean right hand with Valera backed toward his own corner.

Referee Arthur Mercante stepped in moments later, halting the bout at 2:08 of the first round, with Valera still standing but no longer defending effectively.

Lacz advances to 15-0-1 (11). Valera drops to 9-2-2 (5).

Ralph Clemente Remains Perfect in Opening Bout

The evening opened with Ronkonkoma’s Ralph “The Great Ape” Clemente scoring a first-round TKO over Washington State’s Thomas “Viking Warrior” Turner in a four-round light heavyweight contest.

Clemente floored Turner with a right hand, and although Turner beat the count, Clemente quickly pressed forward and landed another heavy right that sent Turner down again. Referee Al LoBianco immediately waved off the contest at 1:07 of the opening round.

Clemente stays unbeaten at 3-0 (3). Turner falls to 1-2.

    Event Summary

“Rockin’ Fights 53” delivered a decisive night of action, with all four bouts ending inside the distance. Headlined by Jahi Tucker’s methodical stoppage and highlighted by explosive first-round finishes from Latorre, Lacz, and Clemente, Star Boxing’s Long Island series continues to showcase rising regional talent.

The card is available for on-demand replay on Millions.co.
