Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren expressed his satisfaction after Ghana opened their Pink Ladies Cup campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over Hong Kong at the Al-Hamriya Sports Club Stadium on Saturday, February 28.

Reacting to the win, the Swedish trainer highlighted his side’s bright start and overall control of the match. “We started the game so well and had our first chance after like 10, 15 seconds. We showed that we were ready from the start. We took the momentum, created chances and had a 2-0 lead at half-time,” he said.

He further praised the team’s sharp response after the break, noting that the instructions they discussed at halftime were executed perfectly. “In the second half, we talked about to start in a good way and we scored a quick goal and won 4-0 in the end, could have probably even be more. But of course I’m super happy with the start. Great performance,” he added.

Ghana’s goals came from Princess Marfo, Doris Boaduwaa, and Chantelle Hlorkah-Boye, with Boaduwaa also missing a second-half penalty as the Queens dominated large spells of the game.

The team will now shift focus to their second match against Russia on Tuesday, March 3, as preparations continue towards the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held in Morocco later this month.
