Assistant coach of the Black Stars, John Paintsil, has expressed strong belief in Ghana’s ability to make a deep run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting the team has what it takes to reach the semi-finals or even the final.

Ghana will be making its fifth appearance at the global showpiece, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Black Stars endured group stage exits at the 2014 tournament in Brazil and the 2022 edition in Qatar, but Paintsil believes the current squad has grown in experience and character to challenge the world’s elite.

“We have enough experience to be in the semi-finals or final of the 2026 World Cup.”

“The players have matured, many of them are competing at the highest level, and we believe this is the time to make a big statement,” Paintsil told 3Sports.

The Black Stars will kick off their campaign against Panama on June 17 before taking on England on June 23.

They will wrap up their group stage fixtures with a clash against Croatia on June 27.
