The Ghana Boxing Interim Management Committee (GBIMC) has entered the final phase of its mandate after securing an extension to complete reforms and organize elections for a new governing body.

The Committee was inaugurated on September 29, 2025, by Sports Minister Kofi Adams following the dissolution of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) board by the National Sports Authority (NSA) after two boxer fatalities.

Led by former GBA President Samir Captan and Vice Chairman Azumah Nelson, the GBIMC has reinstated sanctioned bouts, tightened medical and anti-doping protocols, secured athlete insurance partnerships and staged several events nationwide.

The approved extension outlines a two-phase roadmap. Between February and April 2026, the Committee will finalize licensing and disciplinary reforms, establish an Independent Medical Commission, introduce a digital health database and administrative portal, expand insurance schemes and complete constitutional amendments.

Elections for a substantive executive board are scheduled for May to June 2026 as the Committee moves to conclude its transitional oversight of professional boxing in Ghana.
