The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has welcomed the growing recognition of sport as a key component of Ghana’s economic strategy following discussions at the Presidential Dialogue with the private sector held at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra.

Speaking after the event, the minister said the inclusion of sport in high-level economic conversations signalled a shift in national policy direction, where the sector is increasingly being linked to investment, tourism, youth employment and international visibility.

According to him, sport has often been overlooked in economic planning, but the dialogue, led by President John Mahama, placed it firmly within Ghana’s development framework.

Adams noted that the establishment of the Ghana Sports Fund, a policy commitment by the President, reflects government’s intention to provide structured financing to support sports development and related industries.

He added that positioning sport within broader economic discussions will help unlock its potential to create jobs, attract private investment and contribute to sustainable growth.

The Minister expressed confidence that continued collaboration between government and the private sector would strengthen the sports ecosystem and ensure long-term benefits for athletes, administrators and the wider economy.
