Chairman of Parliament’s Select Committee on Sports, Ernest Norgbey, has disclosed that GH¢150 million has been allocated to support the Black Stars’ preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana will make its fifth appearance at the tournament, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.

Speaking to the media, Mr Norgbey explained that the government’s allocation is aimed at ensuring optimal preparation ahead of the global showpiece. He noted that although FIFA is expected to provide financial support to participating nations, those funds may not be released early enough to cover immediate preparatory expenses.

According to him, the allocation will help the Ghana Football Association and the technical team adequately plan for camping, friendly matches and other logistical requirements before the competition begins.

As part of preparations, Ghana is scheduled to face Germany and Austria during the next international window.

The Black Stars will open their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17, 2026, before taking on England on June 23 and concluding their group stage fixtures against Croatia on June 27.
