The much awaited Ashanti Regional campaign tour of Vice President and NPP Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, took off to a tumultuous welcome in the three Atwima Constituencies; Mponua, Nwabiagya South and Nwabiagya North, on Monday.
Bawumia, has so far toured 15 regions and over 220 constituencies, and he has been warmly received across board in his bid to serve the country as President.
Having reserved the party’s stronghold, Ashanti Region, as the last region to tour on his constituency-focused campaign, many of the party’s supporters had been waiting impatiently to receive the new leader.
Accompanied by party stalwarts of the region, including regional Chairman Wontumi, and fellow NPP Presidential Primaries contestants, Kwabena Agyepong, Dr. Afriyie Akoto, Kwabena Nsafoa and Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Dr. Bawunia kicked off his Ashanti Regional campaign in the Atwima Mponua Constituency.
He held engagements with constituency stakeholders in Mtobroso, where he met traditional rulers, the Clergy, Imams and community leaders. Dr. Bawumia’s choice of Ntobroso was described as historic because no Presidential candidate has ever visited the town.
After that, he held a mammoth community connect in Nyinahin, attended by huge number of supporters.
From Atwima Mponua, Dr. Bawumia moved to Atwima Nwabiagya South for similar engagements in Toase and Abuakwa.
The crowd grew even bigger in Abuakwa, where Dr. Bawumia met thousands for his Atwima Nwabiagya South community connect. As has been the case in previous constituencies, the supporters congregate hours before the Vice President arrived, and it peaked when news emerged he was almost in.
Various speakers, including some of the Presidential Aspirants, spoke and rallied support for the Dr. Bawumia and the NPP’s parliamentary candidate.
Dr. Bawumia capped his day one tour in Atwima Nwabiagya North, where stunning crowds welcomed him late night.
First, he held his stakeholders engagement in Akropong before moving to Atwima Koforidua, where he was met by the biggest crowd of the day.
Every available space was filled as enthusiastic supporters waiting for so long to catch a glimpse at Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, whom they offered a massive welcome when he arrived in the night.
