Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, COP Christian Tetteh Yohunu, to help ensure justice in the case involving the late Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley.

The call was made during a meeting between the GFA leadership and the Ghana Police Service at the Police Headquarters in Accra, where issues of safety and accountability in football were discussed.

Nana Pooley was killed during a Ghana Premier League match in early 2025, an incident that shocked the football community and raised renewed concerns about supporter safety at match venues. More than a year later, the case remains before the courts.

Okraku stressed the importance of bringing closure to the matter, noting that justice for the deceased and his family would reinforce confidence in the game’s governance and security arrangements.

He urged the Police to continue supporting the judicial process to ensure a timely and transparent resolution, adding that protecting lives at football matches remains a shared responsibility between the FA and law enforcement agencies.

The IGP assured the GFA of the Police Service’s commitment to maintaining security and supporting due process in all matters related to football safety.
