Twelve years after the unsolved murder of his former manager, Fennec Okyere, Ghanaian rapper Kwaw Kese has shared his perspective on what he believes may have led to the incident.

In an interview on JoyPrime, shared on social media on February 19, 2026, Kwaw Kese said he does not believe the killing was a result of robbery.

Explaining how Fennec was stabbed in the chest through to his back, the rapper insisted that someone was contracted to assassinate the late manager.

‘Investigation into Fennec Okyere’s murder closed by the police’ – Kwaw Kese

“I was in the shower when Fennec’s houseboy, Believer, called. He was crying, and I asked what was happening. I immediately left the shower and rushed to Fennec’s house. When we got to his room, he was lying in a pool of blood. I had seen him the night before; we had discussed a lot of things.

“It’s been about 12 years. He was stabbed in the heart, all the way through to the back. It wasn’t a robbery. I believe it was a contract killing. There was nothing stolen from the house. He didn’t keep money at home. It didn’t look like a robbery to me. You know, the police don’t tell you much,” he said.

Kwaw Kese further noted that the police should have investigated entertainment pundit and artiste manager Bullgod, referencing allegations once made by Shatta Wale.

“Names were mentioned. After the rant, Shatta Wale messaged me. I still have the message. He sent it to me on Twitter. At the very least, the police should have invited him for questioning.

“I was invited, and I don’t understand why I was invited. When the incident occurred, I was called to the police headquarters. The IGP was the commander at the time. I was invited to his office and questioned. The night before Fennec was killed, we ate soakings. He ate soakings. There was no money in the house for armed robbers to steal,” he added.

    Background

Fennec Okyere was killed on March 13, 2014, when unidentified assailants reportedly broke into his home and attacked him.

Over the years, no one has been successfully prosecuted for the crime. In 2014, artiste manager Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, popularly known as Bullgod, was arrested by the Homicide Unit of the Police CID after being identified as a suspect.

At the time, then CID PRO DSP Joseph Darkwah stated that Bullgod had allegedly made several threats against the deceased.

However, Bullgod was later released after the Attorney-General Gloria Akuffo announced that the state would no longer pursue prosecution in connection with the alleged murder.
