Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang has vowed that the Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy (PAGE) will spearhead Ghana’s transition from crisis management to sustainable economic triumph.

Speaking at PAGE’s inauguration, she emphasized the need for deliberate thinking and disciplined choices that transcend emergency responses.

“After a period of acute strain, visibility is returning, and confidence is gradually rebuilding, even as we continue to navigate global and domestic challenges. This moment must be used not only to recover, but to reset our economic direction,” Professor Opoku Agyemang declared.

The Vice President outlined PAGE’s mandate, highlighting its role in providing independent, rigorous, and practical advice to support government decision-making.

She stressed that the advisory group will complement existing institutions, offering insights and solutions grounded in global best practices and Ghana’s specific realities.

Professor Opoku Agyemang emphasized that economic policy must be intertwined with citizens’ lived experiences, citing essential elements like safe water, reliable electricity, and dignified work as indicators of true economic transformation.

“The economy should translate into stability for the teacher and nurse, fair prices for the farmer, and predictable costs for the trader and small business owner,” she stated.

The Vice President underscored the importance of intellectual honesty, collective responsibility, and collaboration in achieving durable economic success. She expressed optimism that PAGE’s work can lay the foundation for an economy that delivers stability, opportunity, and dignity for all Ghanaians.
