Brusa Carlo Alberto, the lawyer of former French footballer Franck Ribéry, has rebuffed claims that his client’s name has appeared in the files of controversial United States sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.

The US Department of Justice (DOJ) released over 2,000 videos and 180,000 images of persons who were in contact with the deceased offender after public demand.

The release does not automatically indict those spotted with Epstein, as investigations are ongoing to determine whether they are guilty or not.

Following the release of the files, rumors spread within the sporting fraternity that Ribéry was among those mentioned and could face justice in the US.

In response, Carlo Alberto denied the allegations, describing them as “fake news” spread by individuals seeking to damage the former footballer’s reputation.

He stated that he would take legal action against those spreading such spurious claims, which have generated unnecessary controversy around the player’s image.

“This is fake news. I will take action in my capacity as Ribéry’s lawyer and implement all necessary legal proceedings to punish those responsible for this fake news, which is an attack on the dignity of my client and his family,” Alberto said, as captured by @iMiaSanMia.

Jeffrey Epstein died on August 10, 2019, at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City while awaiting trial on federal charges of sex trafficking.
