Super Eagles head coach Éric Sékou-Chelle has boldly declared his long-term ambition to break new ground in world football by one day becoming the first African manager to take charge of Spanish giants Real Madrid, according to French outlet RMCsport.
The Franco-Malian coach, who has been at the helm of Nigeria’s national team since January 2025 after a successful club and international playing career, has steadily climbed the managerial ranks in African football.
Appointed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to revive the fortunes of the Super Eagles, Chelle guided the team to a bronze medal finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where Nigeria defeated Egypt on penalties to take third place.
As such, the former Mali coach is already setting his sights beyond the African stage. In remarks reported by RMCsport, he revealed his ambition to coach Real Madrid.
