The Metropolitan Chief Executive for the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA), Hon. George Justice Arthur, together with the Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North, Hon. Kwamena Minta Nyarku, popularly known as Ragga, have commissioned and cut sod for a number of key development projects aimed at improving security, education, healthcare and access to potable water within the Cape Coast North Assembly.

The activities took place on Friday, February 6, 2026, across several beneficiary communities in the metropolis.

Among the projects commissioned was the Sewin Police Station, which is expected to enhance security for residents of the Sewin community, students of the Cape Coast Technical University and surrounding areas. Also commissioned were mechanised water boreholes at Amissano, Efutu and the Kakumdo CHPS Compound to provide residents with access to clean and reliable drinking water.

In addition, sod was cut for the construction of a six-unit classroom block at Esuekyir Basic School, a three-unit JHS classroom block at Bessakrom, and an ultramodern CHPS Compound to strengthen healthcare delivery in the area.

All the projects were funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund allocations, which enable metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies to implement priority development projects.

Addressing the media, Hon. George Justice Arthur stated that the projects are intended to improve the living conditions of residents within the metropolis. He appealed to beneficiary communities to take good care of the facilities and assured them of more development projects as government releases additional funds.

Hon. Kwamena Minta Nyarku noted that the projects were undertaken by the government for the benefit of the people. He also cautioned youths, particularly those around the newly commissioned Sewin Police Station, to conduct themselves responsibly to avoid unnecessary arrests.

Community leaders from the beneficiary areas expressed their gratitude to the MCE and MP for the interventions and pledged to ensure proper maintenance of the facilities for long-term use.
