TikTok content creator Ama Yeboah has opened up about the hardships she and her family endured before she began her journey in digital content creation.

Speaking on The Delay Show, she recalled how, at one point, her family’s last resort was boiled cassava with hot pepper, shared among eight children and their parents.

“Life was tough financially, most times the only money at home would be just 1 Ghana cedis which we would use to buy pepper and cook some cassava because my dad is a farmer, so we had cassava,” she said

Ama Yeboah further revealed that she used to carry banku and soup to sell early in the morning before going to school.

“My mom would wake my sisters and me up at dawn to prepare banku and soup. We carried them to town to sell before I returned home to get ready for school. That was the only way I could afford school. I did that from JHS until SHS 2,” she reflected.

She explained that her life remained difficult until she began creating content in 2023.

Initially, her videos struggled to gain recognition until she featured her mother in a dance video that went viral.

“I started content in 2023 but it wasn’t working. I told myself I’d keep trying. After a while, I added my mom, and I saw a difference. People started commenting that they loved her, so I recruited her full-time,” Ama said.

She added that content creation has transformed her life, enabling her to provide for her family, meet new people, and even embark on business ventures.

“Things were rough, but through content, life is a bit easier. I’ve met people I never dreamed of meeting. Sometimes, people reach out to support me. Recently, someone even paid for me to travel to Dubai,” she revealed, referencing her December trip.

Her mother, Obolo, expressed that she loves acting, so it wasn’t exactly difficult for her when Ama asked to join her.

“I love acting, and I wanted to act during Agya Koo’s time, but I couldn’t, so it wasn’t hard when she asked me to,” Obolo said.
