Former Ghana international, Charles Taylor has revealed that the management of Accra Hearts of Oak made big promises to them ahead of the CAF Champions League final against Espérance of Tunisia in 2000.

According to Charles Taylor, players of the Phobians were promised $25,000 each as winning bonus before their game against Espérance of Tunisia but they never got the money.

“They made the promise to us when we went to Tunisia for the first leg. We were told that each player will get $15,000 if we win the game,” Taylor said in an interview with Sporty FM.

However, Charles Taylor said the money they got for defeating the Tunisian side to secure Accra Hearts of Oak’s only CAF Champions League title was not more than $1000.

“We won the game so we were all planning on what we will use our money for but we didn’t get it after winning the Champions League. The money we received after completing the assignment was not more than $1000.”
