The Ghana Football Association has clarified that the Government of Ghana will take full responsibility for paying the salaries of newly appointed members of the Black Stars technical team.

The announcement comes after the GFA unveiled five additional backroom staff to strengthen head coach Otto Addo’s technical structure ahead of key international assignments and preparations toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The new appointments include Alain Ravera and Kim Lars as assistant coaches, Jose Daniel Martínez Alfonso as scout and video analyst, Carlos Lozano Romero as team physiotherapist, and Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi as performance coach.

Public debate followed the announcement, with questions being raised about the financial implications of expanding the technical team.

GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum confirmed the arrangement while addressing concerns over the appointments.

“It is a short-term arrangement, and the government has agreed to cover the remuneration of these coaches for the duration of their engagement,” he told Akoma FM.

The inclusion of the additional staff forms part of efforts to enhance the Black Stars’ competitiveness after a series of mixed performances in recent international competitions.

Alain Ravera and Kim Lars bring considerable coaching experience from European football, while Martínez Alfonso is expected to bolster the team’s scouting and analytical operations.

Romero’s appointment is aimed at improving medical support for players, while Peasah Paa Kwesi will focus on enhancing physical conditioning and overall performance levels within the squad.
