Almost a third of voters believe Sir Keir Starmer‘s Labour Party is sleazier than the previous Conservative government, according to a new poll.

The YouGov survey, conducted on Thursday, also found that half of voters think the Prime Minister should quit and a new leader should take his place.

Meanwhile, more than a third of the 2,210 participants viewed Sir Keir’s party as equal amounts ‘sleazy and disreputable’ as the Conservatives.

However, a quarter of those surveyed considered Labour to be more trustworthy than the Opposition and less than one in four believed Starmer should continue in office.

In May, during former Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner‘s second home scandal, 28 per cent of pollsters said the party were more shady than the Conservatives.

And amid the fresh allegations against Peter Mandelson and his links to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, this has only risen in the most recent poll carried out this week.

A mere 14 per cent believed the UK leader had shown good decision-making in manoeuvring Mandelson’s scandal.

And a further 23 per cent said he dealt with the scandal well, with nearly half having an opposing opinion, The Times reported.

According to current YouGov figures, Government approval sits at 14 per cent with 66 per cent disapproving.

The recent figures suggest the scandal involving the former Labour grandee is a brutal blow to both the government and Starmer’s reputation.

Nearly half of pollsters said they were closely following the story unfold, while just 12 percent they did not know about it.

It comes shortly after police raided Mandelson’s homes in London and Wiltshire as he is investigated for misconduct in a public office.

Scotland Yard has mounted a full criminal investigation into the 72-year-old after damning revelations about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

While he was a Cabinet minister, the former spin doctor repeatedly leaked him confidential government plans, emails suggest.

Two people believed to be police officers arrived outside the ex-peer’s £7.6million house near Regent’s Park – which he bought in 2011 following advice from Epstein.

The officers knocked on the door and entered the house, with one of them wearing what appeared to be a small body camera.

Three more people believed to be police officers arrived at the address shortly after.

The officers were seen collecting items from their car, including a blue box and a large bag, before re-entering the property.

One man left Lord Mandelson’s house and got into a car. He declined to comment, including on anything happening inside the property. It is unclear if Lord Mandelson was inside.

Met Police Deputy Assistant Commissioner Hayley Sewart said: ‘I can confirm that officers from the Met’s Central Specialist Crime team are in the process of carrying out search warrants at two addresses, one in the Wiltshire area, and another in the Camden area.

‘The searches are related to an ongoing investigation into misconduct in public office offences, involving a 72-year-old man. He has not been arrested and enquiries are ongoing.’

The offence of misconduct in public office carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

The criminal probe was announced on Tuesday after the Government and former Prime Minister Gordon Brown passed information to the Met.

It came as the Daily Mail uncovered further sensational details about Lord Mandelson’s dealings with Epstein, with whom he remained close even after the financier had been jailed for child sex offences.

One bombshell email seemingly showed the pair discussing confidential negotiations over a £10billion Ministry of Defence contract while Lord Mandelson was business secretary in Mr Brown’s government.

In another exchange, on the day Epstein was released from prison, the pair appeared to joke about celebrating with ‘two strippers’ – with Lord Mandelson branding his paedophile friend a ‘naughty boy’ for making the suggestion.

Lord Mandelson has previously suggested his status as a gay man meant he was ‘kept separate from what (Epstein) was doing in the sexual side of his life‘.
