The Member of Parliament for Ashaiman, Ernest Henry Norgbey, has called for a full investigation into how the One -Million Dollar- Per- Constituency funds were utilised in the Ashaiman Constituency under the previous government.

The call follows the discovery of an abandoned and uncompleted 10-seater toilet facility at the Ashaiman Technical Institute, which was reportedly funded under the One-Million-Dollar-Per-Constituency initiative.

The policy, introduced by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, was implemented through the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP) and was aimed at reducing poverty by funding critical infrastructure projects in constituencies across the country.

During an inspection tour of projects in the constituency, the abandoned toilet facility—located in a bushy area—raised serious concerns, particularly in view of the substantial amount of public funds said to have been invested in the project.

Norgbey questioned the justification for the cost of the facility, noting that the structure has fewer than twenty toilet seats despite being described as a one-million-dollar constituency project.

He further stated that, aside from the said toilet facility, there appears to be no other visible infrastructure project in the constituency attributable to the One Million Dollar funds.

The MP has therefore demanded an investigation to establish how the funds were spent.

Norgbey also indicated that he intends to raise the matter on the floor of Parliament to demand accountability from those responsible.
