Ghanaian musician and entrepreneur D-Black has shed light on how he strategically balances his music career with his growing hospitality empire, revealing that while music built his brand, business sustains his finances.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Hitz FM, the rapper explained that his journey into entrepreneurship was made possible largely because of the visibility he gained through music.

“Publicly and popularity-wise, I would say the music… and that’s given me so many platforms to be able to build the business on,” he said.

According to D-Black, his music career laid the foundation for his brand recognition, opening doors and creating opportunities that extended beyond the entertainment industry.

However, when it comes to revenue generation, the artiste was candid about which venture contributes more significantly to his income.

“But financially I’ll say the hospitality business,” he stated, referring to his investments in restaurants, clubs, and lounges. “I had to put a lot of focus into that.”

D-Black disclosed that he operates a deliberate system where his attention shifts between music and business depending on the year. He admitted that, compared to some of his peers, he may not release music as consistently.

“But when I do it, it’s financially rewarding,” he noted. “Then in the year that I have the music, I pay less attention to the hospitality business. So then I keep going back and forth.”

This rotational approach, he explained, has defined the past decade of his career.

The model, he added, was partly inspired by observing his mother’s 30-year career in the tourism industry, which influenced his entrepreneurial mindset.

Over the years, D-Black has successfully built a reputation not only as a musician but also as a savvy businessman, proving that creative talent and corporate ambition can coexist when managed strategically.
