Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has said he is not bothered by the competition between him and Solomon Agbasi at Accra Hearts of Oak.
Accra Hearts of Oak head coach, Didi Dramani, has been rotating his goalkeepers in the Ghana Premier League in his bid to share playing time between his two goalkeepers.
The decision has limited Benjamin Asare’s minutes, who is currently the Black Stars’ first-choice goalkeeper and needs to play consistently to prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Reacting to the recent changes made by coach Didi Dramani in an interview with Accra-based Angel FM, Benjamin Asare welcomed the competition with a broad smile.
“I don’t have any problem with Agbasi competing for the number one spot at Hearts of Oak; we are in the same team, so I don’t see a problem with it.”
“I can’t say because I’m in the national team, I don’t want anyone to compete with me. I will welcome it on any day,” Benjamin Asare said in an interview with Angel FM.
Benjamin Asare conceded just one goal in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers for Ghana, while keeping five clean sheets in six qualifying matches.
