A Ghanaian police officer has gained widespread attention for his kind act of helping schoolchildren cross a road and then offering them water.

A video posted on X on February 3, 2026, showed the officer guiding a group of uniformed schoolchildren across a rural road, even as he handed out sachets of water to them from a plastic bag in his hands.

The video, posted by a Ghanaian political media outlet, quickly went viral, earning praises for the officer’s compassionate actions.

It is believed that this action aligns with the Ghana Police Service’s 2026 community policing initiative, which focuses on building positive relationships with the community.

Reactions from online users have been overwhelmingly positive.

One user, @kwakuyeboah22, commented, “Wow, very refreshing.”

    Another, @lukaku_romelu90, said, “I’m touched.”

However, user @MetalzKoo14838 expressed concern, stating, “It’s too risky.”

The community policing initiative includes training 12,000 assistants to promote positive interactions and rebuild public trust.

This initiative originates from a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Ghana Police Service (GPS) and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), established in May 2025.

The aim is to recruit and train 12,000 young individuals as Community Police Assistants (CPAs).

These CPAs will support law enforcement efforts, enhance community safety, prevent crime, and build public trust.
