Black Stars forward, Antoine Semenyo has matched a Manchester City record previously held by Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor, scoring in four of his first five appearances for the club in all competitions.

The milestone came on Sunday, February 1, as City faced Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

Semenyo also surpassed his personal best in English top-flight football, netting his 12th league goal of the season.

The 26-year-old had previously tallied 11 goals for Bournemouth in 2024/25, marking a career-high in England.

Missing out on European action due to registration rules, Semenyo made an immediate impact against Tottenham, testing goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario early.

In the 44th minute, Bernardo Silva delivered a precise assist, allowing Semenyo to calmly slot a left-footed finish into the top corner, giving City a 2-0 advantage before half-time.

The match saw Spurs fight back through an own goal later credited to Dominic Solanke and Solanke’s spectacular scorpion kick equaliser in the 73rd minute, but Semenyo’s early strike highlighted his rapid adaptation to life at the Etihad.

According to OptaJoe, Semenyo is the second player since 1992/93 to score in four of his first five games for City in all competitions, a feat previously achieved by Adebayor.
