Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, Alexander Acquah, has predicted a decisive victory for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia should former President John Dramani Mahama contest the 2028 general elections.

According to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lawmaker, Ghanaian voters would overwhelmingly reject a return to the Mahama administration, citing what he described as a clear contrast between past governance and the current vision being championed by Dr. Bawumia.

Speaking in an interview, Mr. Acquah argued that Dr. Bawumia’s track record in public service, particularly in the areas of digitalisation, economic reform, and public sector efficiency, places him far ahead of any potential challenger from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“Ghanaians have experienced both administrations. If President Mahama decides to run again in 2028, he will lose to Bawumia because the people now understand the difference between rhetoric and results,” the MP stated.

He further noted that Dr. Bawumia represents a new generation of leadership with innovative ideas tailored to the changing needs of the country, especially the youth and private sector. Mr. Acquah added that the Vice President’s policies have helped modernise government services and improve transparency.

The Akim Oda MP also dismissed suggestions that voter fatigue could work against the NPP, insisting that strong leadership and credible policies would remain the decisive factors in future elections.

Mr. Acquah urged Ghanaians to focus on competence, vision, and integrity when choosing their next leader, stressing that, in his view, Dr. Bawumia remains the best option to lead Ghana beyond 2028.
