Golf involves several pieces of equipment essential to the sport, which some perceive as being reserved for the elite. Some of these items include balls, towels, ball markers, tees, and other key tools used to play the game.

Balls
Originally, golf balls were made of hardwood, such as beech. Between the 14th and 16th centuries, more expensive balls called featheries were made of leather stuffed with down feathers. Today, golf balls are manufactured using modern materials such as plastic.
Ball Markers
A ball’s position must be marked using a ball marker, typically a round, flat piece of metal or plastic. This allows the ball to be lifted for cleaning or if it obstructs an opponent’s putting line.
Tees
A tee is a small object, usually made of wood or plastic, pushed into the ground to hold a ball for the first stroke of each hole. Conventional tees are spikes with a small cup on top to hold the ball. Wooden tees are inexpensive but often break during play.
Golf Bag

Ball Mark Repair Tool
Also known as a divot tool or pitchfork, this is used to repair ball marks, depressions on the green caused by a ball landing. The tool loosens compacted turf around the mark, allowing grass to regrow quickly, and the surface is then smoothed with a putter.
