Award-winning gospel musician Diana Hamilton has explained why organising large-scale gospel events, particularly at international venues like the O2 Arena, comes with significant challenges.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on February 2, 2026, the gospel singer mentioned that she and her team are focusing on events in Accra and Kumasi this year, while carefully evaluating other options.

“This year, we are dwelling so we are doing Accra and Kumasi for now. These are things we think about and put on the table for discussion,” she said.

According to Diana Hamilton, one of the major considerations when choosing event venues is content ownership, which plays a crucial role in spreading the gospel beyond the physical event.

“The only thing with O2 is that, when we do these events, we get content out of that. How many O2 events have you seen content from that put out?” she questioned.

She explained that the strict regulations at such venues prevent artistes from owning footage recorded there, making it difficult to create post-event content.

“The laws of those venues don’t allow for you to own the film of that place,” she stated.

Diana Hamilton further disclosed that gospel artistes are often charged significantly higher fees compared to secular artistes.

“Whatever you will charge as a secular artiste to do O2, they will charge a gospel artiste more than double of that because you don’t sell alcohol,” she noted.

She shared that several factors work against gospel musicians when it comes to hosting events at such venues.

Highlighting the importance of post-event media, Diana Hamilton said recorded content from gospel concerts continues to bless people long after the event itself.

“Everything is against us. There are several factors to consider because when we do the post-event content is what is blessing a whole lot of people out there,” she added.
