Former National Vice Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Ghana’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Said Sinare, has launched a blistering attack on the opposition New Patriotic Party, declaring that the party has sealed its fate by electing Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as its flagbearer.

In a strongly worded Facebook post, Sinare asserted that the NPP no longer has any electoral life left, insisting that the choice of Dr Bawumia represents a strategic blunder that will culminate in a crushing defeat in the 2028 general elections.

“NPP delegates have finally fixed a date for the party’s final burial rites,” he wrote.

According to Sinare, Dr Bawumia’s electoral record shows a consistent downward trend that the opposition party can no longer ignore.

He pointed out that although Bawumia polled about 61 percent during the NPP’s 2023 presidential primaries, he managed only 38 percent in the general elections.

More recently, his support reportedly dropped further to about 56 percent in the party’s internal contest.

Sinare argued that a candidate whose popularity is declining even within his own party cannot hope to expand his appeal to the wider Ghanaian electorate.

He described the development as clear evidence that the NPP is politically exhausted and out of touch with the mood of the country.

The comments have triggered intense reactions online, with supporters of the NDC applauding what they describe as a frank assessment of the opposition’s condition, while NPP sympathisers have rejected the remarks as political provocation.
