Renowned Ghanaian highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena has cautioned men against engaging in romantic affairs with their wives’ best friends or close relatives, describing such actions as deeply painful and morally wrong.
The singer made the remarks during an exclusive interview with Doreen Avio and Kwame Dadzie on Hitz FM while discussing the storyline behind his classic hit song Aso, which he recently remixed with Stonebwoy and Kofi Kinaata.
According to Kwabena Kwabena, infidelity is a common issue in relationships and is not limited to one gender.
Although Aso largely tells the story of cheating from a male perspective, he emphasised that betrayal in relationships affects both men and women equally.
“It swings both ways,” the musician explained. “Apart from telling the ‘Aso’ story for the men, of course because I’m a man I will tell it from a man’s perspective. I mean it’s something relatable because it is something that happens both ways.”
Speaking in a light-hearted but pointed manner, Kwabena Kwabena condemned the practice of men engaging in affairs with their wives’ best friends or close relations, noting that such behaviour compounds the pain of infidelity.
He stressed that involving someone close to one’s partner makes the betrayal far more hurtful.
“I mean there are guys who are chopping their wives’ best friend and close relation, you guys have to stop that,” he added.
