Music mogul and rapper Criss Waddle has heaped praise on President John Dramani Mahama over what he has observed as Ghana’s glowing economic turnaround under the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a viral post on X on January 29, 2026, the entrepreneur listed some multiple road projects he had observed, the appreciation of the cedi to the dollar and the accompanying reduction in fuel prices as well as a reduction in inflation.

Waddle jokingly asked if the President had engaged in traditional rituals before assuming office to be able to achieve such turnarounds.

“Na President Mahama nu Woagyei Sika Duro Anaa? multiple Road constructions ongoing concurrently, Dollar Rate very good, petrol prices way better than years ago, Tema oil refinery resumed crude oil processing, inflation dropped from 23.8% to 5.4%. Jesus Christ,” he quipped.

In 2025, Ghana’s economy recorded a strong turnaround, according to the Bank of Ghana, with headline inflation crashing from 23.8% in December 2024 to 5.4% in December 2025, supported by anchored core inflation and tighter monetary policy.

GDP grew by 6.1% in the first three quarters, up from 5.7% over the same period in 2024, while non‑oil GDP expanded at about 7.5%, driven by services and agriculture.

Public debt fell from around 61.8% of GDP at the end of 2024 to about 45% by October 2025, gross international reserves rose to roughly US$13.8 billion, and the cedi appreciated by about 40.7% against the dollar, easing import and fuel pressures.
