Johnson Asiedu Nketia, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed heartfelt thanks to the chiefs and people of Amenfi Central in the western region of Ghana for their unwavering support during the 2024 general elections, calling their contribution “critical to the party’s victory.” Speaking at a rally as part of his ongoing nationwide “Thank You Tour,” Johnson Asiedu Nketia emphasized the NDC’s commitment to delivering tangible development to the constituency. The event, attended by party supporters, traditional leaders, and public officials, underscored the importance of Amenfi Central’s loyalty. Johnson Asiedu Nketia assured residents that the NDC would not take their continued backing for granted. He pledged that the government led by President John Dramani Mahama would prioritize the constituency in key social and economic interventions, aiming to accelerate local development and improve quality of life. “We recognize the trust you’ve placed in us, and we are committed to translating that trust into action,” Asiedu Nketia stated during the rally on January 29, 2026. “Amenfi Central is a cornerstone of our support, and we will ensure your needs are met with the urgency and seriousness they deserve.” Nana Hyia Agyemang, the revered chief of Manso Amenfi, echoed support for President Mahama’s leadership, describing his governance in his first year as “phenomenal and widely acknowledged.” The chief praised the president’s efforts to safeguard public welfare but raised pressing concerns about the constituency’s crumbling infrastructure. “While we commend the leadership of President Mahama and Chairman Asiedu Nketia, we urge the government to address the dire state of our roads, which are in deplorable condition. Amenfi Central lacks basic facilities such as modern schools, portable drinking water, and functional health centers. These gaps hinder our progress,” Nana Agyemang said, calling for urgent intervention. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, echoed gratitude to constituents for electing her, framing her mandate as a “call to greater service.” She highlighted ongoing government projects in the district, including road rehabilitation, health facility upgrades, Water and education initiatives aimed at uplifting living standards. “We are witnessing the early fruits of President Mahama’s commitment to inclusive development,” Joana Gyan Cudjoe said. “However, the pace must accelerate to address the backlog of challenges. Your voices will continue to guide our actions.” The NDC’s strong showing in Amenfi Central during the December 7, 2024, elections reflected its consolidation in the Western Region, a traditionally competitive political terrain. Asiedu Nketia’s pledge of targeted investment aligns with the party’s promise to bridge regional disparities and foster equitable growth. Amenfi Central’s leaders and residents, however, remain cautiously optimistic. While lauding the NDC’s gratitude, they stress that words must be matched with visible infrastructure and services to sustain long-term trust. As the “Thank You Tour” continues, the NDC faces rising expectations to deliver on promises that align with both the party’s electoral success and the grassroots needs of its most loyal supporters.
