Highlife veteran J.A Adofo has opened up about the quiet lifeline he says President John Dramani Mahama extended to him when his health began to fail, describing months of steady, private support that helped him navigate a painful chapter.

In a recent interview with Ohemaa Woyeje, the veteran Ghanaian musician, born Jackson Alfred Adofo, said the president stepped in shortly after he fell ill and has remained present ever since, largely out of public view.

The musician explained that the assistance has not been symbolic. He said it has involved routine financial help aimed at covering his medical needs, along with other acts of concern that have lightened the strain on him and his family.

“Ever since I fell sick, President Mahama has been giving me gifts, including money to buy medicine every single month. You can ask Mr Beautiful, because he is the one who brings the money,” he said.

Adofo was careful to draw a clear line between the help he receives and partisan politics. He stressed that he does not engage in political activity and insisted the support should not be interpreted as a reward for loyalty or public praise, but rather as a personal gesture.

“Truth be told, I don’t involve myself in politics, but he likes me. My child has passed away, and under normal circumstances, I would have invited him to the burial. However, I understand the responsibilities he carries as President.

“Therefore, I will not disturb him because he is the father of the nation. But I am sure that if he hears that I am burying my child, he would come to support me,” J.A Adofo further stated.
