    Published: 11:39 EST, 28 January 2026 | Updated: 12:03 EST, 28 January 2026

This is the moment a teenage girl falls to the floor after being thrown from a 40ft tower block by her violent boyfriend.

Jordan Herring, 22, threw his girlfriend from the fourth floor of Merton House in Solihull, Birmingham, shortly after 11.20pm on November 12, 2022.

The girl, who was 18 at the time, told police that moments before she tumbled out the window, Herring warned her: ‘I will throw you out, I will kill you.’

Harrowing CCTV footage, released by West Midlands Police with the consent of the victim, shows her falling onto a grass verge below. Incredibly, she survived after her head avoided contact with a concrete pavement by a matter of inches.

The girl was airlifted to hospital having suffering a collapsed spleen and multiple broken bones before being discharged a week later.

Herring was this week found guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm after being cleared of attempted murder. He had previously been convicted of coercive and controlling behaviour.

Sentencing will go ahead on April 13.

Herring was alleged to have deliberately tried to kill his ex-partner, something he denied. He claimed she had climbed out of the window rather than fallen.

The couple had been in a relationship which the girl described as ‘toxic’ for around eight months at the time of the incident.

Herring assaulted her, locked her in a bedroom and searched through her phone and, in the days leading up to her fall, the victim had suffered bruises and black eyes.

The injuries left her family concerned, the trial heard this week, with Herring deciding to take her to his grandmother’s home and later to Merton House, where his mother lived.

After her fall, Herring and Kerrie-Anne Grogan, his mother, wrapped the girl in a blanket and carried her back upstairs to the flat. They did not call emergency services until more than an hour later.

Ms Grogan told the call handler that Herring, who she said had a knife, prevented her from seeking help sooner.

But she later reneged on those allegations while giving evidence, blaming her mental health issues and level of intoxication on the night.

In the witness box, Herring claimed he and the victim had been arguing about ‘stupid things’, including cheating allegations, on the night of the incident.
