A suspected thief was caught red-handed by church members after an alleged attempt to loot the church’s treasury.

The video was taken during the ongoing incident and quickly became a viral sensation shared via X on January 27, 2026.

In the video, the individual reportedly entered the house of worship under the guise of seeking a “quiet time/moment” with God.

“In the name of Jesus, the Holy Spirit has come upon him!” exclaimed one church member during what became known as the “holy slap” moment, a phrase tied to the physical actions that followed.

The video captures church members confronting and apprehending the suspect, who allegedly tried to steal from the church treasury.

Numerous shouts, such as “Ei!”, “Ah!”, “Stop!” and “Hold him!” can be heard as they grab and discipline the alleged thief.
