The Member of Parliament for the Damongo Constituency and former Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has urged delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to reject tribal politics and uphold national unity in the party’s internal processes.

Speaking to delegates in the Bantama Constituency, Jinapor stressed that Ghanaians, irrespective of ethnicity or regional background, are one people and must not allow tribal considerations to influence political decisions.

He highlighted the long-standing history of unity, cooperation and mutual respect between Asantes and people from Northern Ghana, noting that such bonds have contributed significantly to national cohesion.

Jinapor cautioned delegates against being swayed by tribal sentiments, urging them instead to prioritize competence, leadership vision, and the broader interests of both the party and the country.

According to him, individuals who campaign on tribal lines display a poor understanding of Ghana’s history, emphasising that relations between the northern and southern parts of the country have traditionally been cordial and harmonious.

The Damongo MP further appealed to delegates in the Bantama Constituency to give Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia a strong endorsement, assuring them that the Savannah Region, Dr Bawumia’s home region is equally committed to offering overwhelming support to his candidature.
