Highlife musician, Kuami Eugene, has shed light on the nature of his contract with Lynx Entertainment and ownership of his music catalogue following his exit from the record label.

Speaking in an interview with Giovani Caleb on TV3 on January 21, 2026, the award-winning artiste explained that his ownership rights were clearly defined from the onset of his deal with Lynx Entertainment.

According to Kuami Eugene, he wrote and produced the majority of his songs during his time with the label, which granted him significant ownership of his music.

“It all depends on the contract we signed from the beginning. Because I wrote all my songs and I produced about 90% of all my songs, I actually have the producer credit and I own a chunk of my catalogue,” he said.

He noted that only a few songs, about five, were produced by other producers, accounting for roughly 10% of his works.

“The 10% is like some five songs that other producers made. Besides that, I was writing and producing my own songs so I’m still the owner,” he stated.

Kuami Eugene further clarified that although Lynx Entertainment owns the masters to his songs, he still retains his performing rights, making both parties part owners of the catalogue.

“Because the label owns the masters, they are part owners as well but I still own the performing rights,” he shared.

Touching on royalties, the ‘Angela’ hitmaker disclosed that Lynx Entertainment pays him annually but failed to do so last year, indicating that the label currently owes him.

“Lynx entertainment pays me every year but the money didn’t come last year so technically, they’re owing me,” he explained.

Despite the issue, Kuami Eugene stressed that his relationship with Lynx Entertainment remains cordial.

“It’s been a year since I left Lynx but the relationship the label and I have is very tight and we are good,” he added.
