An injunction application has been granted by the High Court in Accra restraining Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa (Afia Schwarzenegger) and Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr (Shatta Wale) from making further defamatory publications against broadcast journalist, Solomon David Aboagye (Kwasi Aboagye).

The ruling followed successful legal arguments by the plaintiff’s lawyers on an application for default judgment after the defendants failed to enter appearance, even though they were duly served through substituted service using different methods as directed by the court in 2025.

Kwasi Aboagye filed a lawsuit following a TikTok live session on May 6, 2024, during which the defendants, Shatta Wale and Afia Schwarzenegger, allegedly made and circulated defamatory statements about him.

The comments accused Kwasi Aboagye of criminal behaviour, impotence and infidelity and were further shared across social media platforms, generating negative reactions.

Through his lawyer, Samson Lardy Anyenini, the plaintiff filed a Writ of Summons and Statement of Claim in late 2024, seeking declarations, injunctions, retractions, apologies and damages totaling GH¢8 million.

This followed the defendants’ refusal to retract or apologise despite a formal demand, and instead daring the Peace FM entertainment show host to proceed to court.

After regular service attempts failed, the court authorised substituted service in October 2024, which was carried out. The defendants still did not respond or file a defence.

On October 15, 2025, the Court granted Relief 6 of the Plaintiff’s claims, a perpetual injunction restraining the defendants from issuing further defamatory comments.

With the court ruling, the issue now moves to the damages phase, during which the plaintiff must establish grounds for compensation based on reputational harm.
