As part of its continued commitment to expanding access to affordable contraceptive options and reproductive health services in Ghana, DKT Ghana has officially introduced Femject, a new 3-month injectable contraceptive designed to strengthen family planning choice for women.

The launch event, held at the DKT Ghana office in Accra, brought together a broad range of stakeholders and partners from across the reproductive health sector.

Attendees included representatives from the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Pharmaceutical Council, Population Council, Total Family Health Organization (TFHO), PATH Ghana, Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), Lydia Partners Clinics, community representatives, members of the press, DKT staff, and other key stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Alex Brown, Country Director of DKT AWA, highlighted the growing importance of sustainable family planning solutions at a time when donor funding for reproductive health is declining.

He noted that Femject has been introduced at a critical moment to expand contraceptive choice and support continued access for women across Ghana.
“Femject strengthens the contraceptive options available to women and healthcare providers,” Mr. Brown said. “As funding models shift, it is essential to ensure that access to reliable family planning methods is protected and sustained.”

DKT Ghana’s long-standing contribution to Ghana’s health system was acknowledged in a goodwill message delivered by Dr. Doris Amarteifio on behalf of Dr. Kennedy T. C. Brightson, Head of the GHS Family Health Division. The message commended DKT’s consistent role in supporting family planning delivery and improving access to contraceptives nationwide.

Further support was expressed by Dr. Claudette Diogo of the GHS Pharmacy Division, who congratulated DKT Ghana on the launch and reaffirmed the Division’s continued collaboration. Mr. Joseph Yobo, CEO of Total Family Health Organization, also welcomed the introduction of Femject and called for stronger collaboration among Social Marketing Organizations (SMOs) to better meet market demand.

Additionally, Mr. Paul Eden, Marketing Manager at WomenCare Global, manufacturers of Femject, assured stakeholders of the product’s quality and safety, commending DKT Ghana for successfully introducing the injectable contraceptive to the Ghanaian market.

Femject represents another important step toward empowering women with more reproductive health choices and strengthening Ghana’s family planning landscape through sustainable, high-quality contraceptive solutions.

    About DKT Ghana:
DKT Ghana is a social marketing organisation that works to improve access to high-quality, affordable contraceptives and reproductive health information for people of reproductive age through partnerships, provider engagement, and nationwide distribution.
