Goalkeeper Benjamin Asare delivered a composed and mature response amid the growing competition for the number one spot at Hearts of Oak, showing class and respect for teammate Solomon Agbasi following Friday’s goalless draw with Dreams FC at the University of Ghana Stadium.
The Phobians and the Still Believe lads played out an entertaining stalemate, with both sides creating chances but failing to find the net.
Hearts of Oak dominated large spells of the first half, controlling possession and dictating the tempo, while Dreams FC came strongly after the break and finished the contest on the front foot.
Asare proved decisive on the night, producing a string of fine saves to keep Hearts in the game, particularly in the second half when Dreams FC applied sustained pressure.
Speaking after the match, the Hearts shot-stopper welcomed the rivalry in goal, stressing that competition only helps the team grow.
“It’s good that I have that competition with Solomon Agbasi,” Asare said. “For me, anything the coaches decide, I will do my job. I thank the coaches, the managers and all the supporters for giving me this platform.”
The draw sees Hearts of Oak move to 32 points on the league table, while Dreams FC climb to eighth place with 24 points, level with Heart of Lions.
