The Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has stated that the Osu Castle will be repurposed and developed into a tourist site.

Speaking in an interview on Citi FM with Umaru Sanda Amadu, on January 13, 2026, Dzifa Gomashie indicated that plans to redevelop the historic structure are currently underway.

According to the Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, once all the necessary documentation and procedural requirements are completed, the ministry will begin the redevelopment process.

“I know that His Excellency the President has indicated that the castle should be turned into a tourist site. When the paperwork is completed and handed over, we will see what can be done. It is good that you brought it up so I can follow up,” she said.

Dzifa Gomashie also noted that the ministry will soon commence renovation works on the National Theatre.

According to her, preparations are underway to begin the rehabilitation of the iconic arts facility, which has suffered years of infrastructural deterioration.
