A popular beachside suburb was left on tenterhooks following unconfirmed reports of shots being fired in broad daylight.

Emergency services rushed to McKinnon Drive in Cooroibah, on Queensland‘s Sunshine Coast, just after 10am on Friday.

It’s believed the road was blocked while police worked to secure the scene.

A spokesperson for Queensland Police told Daily Mail a man has been taken into custody and no injuries have been reported.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing.

It comes as locals took to social media to share their experience of what happened, with one resident describing it as a ‘siege.’

Others reported seeing multiple police cars and an ambulance on site.
