Ghanaian gospel musician, Esther Smith, has recounted the threats she received ahead of her return to Ghana in December 2025.

In an interview with PAAM TV UK on January 13, 2026, she revealed that an individual with a Nigerian area code sent her threatening messages while she was preparing to travel from the UK for the much-talked-about Alpha Hour Convocation.

According to her, the person demanded €300,000 to abandon the alleged plot on her life.

“I know my management will not say it, but I will. Before my return to Ghana, someone sent me messages threatening to harm me and demanded €300,000 to spare my life,” she said.

Esther Smith added that personnel from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) gave her protection during her appearance at the 2025 Alpha Hour event held at the Accra Sports Stadium.

She revealed that the individual behind the threats claimed he had been contracted by her “enemies” and also threatened to take over her YouTube channel.

She said her team initially chose not to inform her of that detail so she would not be distracted before her performance.

Esther Smith further stated that she once received similar threatening messages in the past.

She then appealed to fans and loved ones to keep her in their prayers.

On December 30, 2025, the founder and lead pastor of Grace Mountain Ministry, Pastor Elvis Agyemang, held the well-attended Alpha Hour Convocation at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Esther Smith, who is currently based abroad, was among a few Gospel musicians who led worship during the event.

@mawusi_01 “Before I Even Left the UK, My Life Was Already Under Threat” – Esther Smith Breaks Silence on PAAM TV UK. Renowned Ghanaian gospel musician Esther Smith has shared a chilling story that explains why she did not feel safe even before arriving in Ghana for the Alpha Hour Convocation held on 31st December 2025. In an exclusive interview on PAAM TV, the gospel legend revealed that while she was still in the United Kingdom, preparing for the programme, her team received a threatening message concerning her life. According to her, the message did not only carry fear — it carried a demand. She said the person behind the message, whom she described as a contractor, demanded a staggering €300,000 with the condition that the planned harm would be abandoned. The impact of that message was devastating. Esther Smith disclosed that due to the seriousness of the situation, she had to move with BNI security immediately she arrived in Ghana to attend the Alpha Hour Convocation. “I came to Ghana to worship God and bless lives,” she said on PAAM TV, “but deep inside, I was battling fear.” The studio reportedly went quiet as she shared the experience — not as a celebrity, but as a woman who had to minister while carrying a heavy burden in her heart. Her story has since sparked deep concern among fans and the gospel community, reminding everyone that behind the powerful songs of worship are real people who sometimes face silent battles that only prayer can.
