Uganda Police have begun a search for an Arsenal fan who allegedly hit a Manchester United fan with a stick, leading to his death over the drawn match between Arsenal and Liverpool on October 27, 2024.

According to the Ugandan website monitor.co.ug, the Manchester United fan, while celebrating Mohamed Salah’s late equalizer against Arsenal, threw some popcorn at the Arsenal fan, leading to a serious argument between the two.

The argument escalated into a fight at the video center, where the enraged Arsenal fan struck the Manchester United fan with a stick.

Unfortunately, the Manchester United fan sustained a serious injury and could not survive after being rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

Monitor.co.ug reports that the suspect has been identified by the police as Onan, in his 30s, while the deceased is Benjamin Okello, both residents of Katenga Parish.

The Kaharo Sub County LCIII police Chairperson, Edmund Tumwesigye, shared how his outfit is dealing with the case:

“We got information indicating that the two boys who were supporters of two different teams had a scuffle and in so doing, one assaulted the other. It is alleged that when [the assaulted] one was taken to the hospital later alone, he met his death.

“We have tried to encourage the relatives of the deceased to calm down, as we continue to hunt for the other one who is alleged to have participated in the fight, to explain what exactly happened, as well as getting information from those who were present to aid the investigations in the matter,” he said as reported by monitor.co.ug

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s game against Liverpool ended in a 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, October 27, 2024.
