Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca is reportedly considering resigning from his role, following growing tensions at the club due to a poor run of results.
Chelsea have been struggling recently, winning just one of their last seven matches and dropping points in both the Champions League and the Premier League.
According to reports from England, Maresca has a tense relationship with the Chelsea board and is mulling over the idea of stepping down in a bid to resolve the situation.
Chief reporter for British media outlet Sky Sports, Kaveh Solhekol, gave more insight into the rumours:
Anthony Joshua’s coach and close friend among accident fatalities – Reports
“Enzo Maresca is considering his position as Chelsea head coach. Maresca may decide to resign after a breakdown in relations with key figures at the club. He has stood by the comments he made on December 13, 2025, that many people at the club were not supporting him or the team. He described the days leading up to the 2–0 victory over Everton as the worst 48 hours of his time at the club,” he posted on his X page.
The veteran football reporter also hinted that Maresca could tender his resignation before Chelsea face Manchester City in the Premier League due to growing frustrations.
“There is no guarantee Enzo Maresca will be in charge for Chelsea’s game at Man City on Sunday. Missing the post‑match press conference on Tuesday was another sign of problems behind the scenes. Relations have been strained for some time. Maresca feels a red line has been crossed. Developments are expected today,” he added.
Maresca signed a five‑year contract when he joined Chelsea in the summer of 2024, with the club holding an option to extend it by a further year.
Chelsea won the Conference League and the Club World Cup in 2025 under his leadership, and he guided them back into the Champions League.
